The Falkland Islands (Malvinas) have a unique numismatic history that reflects their complex geopolitical situation. Currently, the official currency in circulation is the Falkland pound, which maintains a fixed parity with the British pound sterling.

The Falkland pound was introduced in 1974 and is issued by the government of the islands. Coins circulate in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 pence, as well as 1 and 2 pounds. Banknotes are issued in denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 50 pounds. Although the British pound sterling is also legal tender in the islands, most transactions are carried out with the local currency.

Prior to the introduction of the Falkland pound, the islands used a variety of currencies, including the Falkland Islands pound between 1899 and 1974. An important numismatic milestone was the issuance of commemorative coins in 1982, following the conflict with Argentina, which included a special series of 50 pence coins. In addition, the Falklands has issued numerous commemorative collector coins over the years, many of which feature themes related to the local wildlife and history of the islands.
