Historical information

The Bulgarian lev prior to the adoption of the euro is a fundamental testimony of Bulgaria's monetary history, reflecting its political, economic and cultural changes throughout the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. Leva coins stand out for their profoundly national iconography, with heraldic lions, medieval symbols and historical figures reinforcing the country's identity, as well as for a technical evolution marked by different alloys, monetary reforms and redenominations. For collectors, this period is especially attractive due to the variety of issues, the series before and after the socialist regime, and the last mintages before the euro, which usually arouse growing interest as they become closed pieces of a monetary system that has already disappeared, increasing their historical and collector value with the passing of time.
