Historical Spanish banknotes
Before the euro, the peseta was the official currency of Spain from 1868 to 2002. Other notable banknotes include the 1928 series with the portrait of King Alfonso XIII and the 1938 issue during the Spanish Civil War, which reflected the division of the country with different designs for each side.
