France, one of the founding members of the euro zone in 2002, has used its €2 commemorative coins to pay tribute to its republican values, historical achievements and universal figures. Its first issue dates back to 2007, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, and since then it has maintained a constant and varied production of commemorative pieces.
