Coins 2 Euros of Slovenia Commemorative
Slovenia was the first country from the former Eastern bloc to join the eurozone, in 2007, and has since issued commemorative 2-euro coins reflecting its national identity, historical figures and cultural events. Its first coin appeared in 2007, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, as part of the joint eurozone issue.
Among its most notable issues are the 2010 issue, dedicated to the bicentenary of the birth of poet France Prešeren, a symbol of Slovenian culture, and the 2022 issue, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of architect Jože Plečnik, a key figure in Ljubljana's urban planning. Slovenian coins, although produced in small quantities, stand out for their elegant design and emphasis on cultural heritage, being highly valued by European collectors.
