Curaçao Banknotes Catalog
The history of banknotes in Curaçao reflects the rich cultural and economic heritage of this Caribbean island. From their first issues to the present day, Curaçao banknotes have undergone several changes that reflect the evolution of the nation.
Current banknotes in circulation
Currently, Curaçao uses the Dutch Antillean guilder as its official currency. Banknotes in circulation include denominations of 10, 25, 50 and 100 guilders. These banknotes feature colorful designs highlighting the island' s flora, fauna and landmarks, such as the Queen Juliana Bridge and Christoffel National Park.
Historical banknotes and landmarks in notemaking
Before the introduction of the Antillean guilder, Curaçao used various types of currency. An important milestone was the issuance of the first own banknotes in 1892 by the Curaçaosche Bank. During the 20th century, several series of banknotes were produced, including the emergency issue during World War II. In 2010, with the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles, Curaçao kept the Antillean guilder, but introduced new designs reflecting its identity as an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
