Coins of this new denomination, minted at the Buenos Aires Mint, began to circulate in the province, gradually replacing local and foreign issues. During the 20th century, Santiago del Estero used the same coins as the rest of the country, including the pesos law 18.188, Argentine pesos and, finally, the convertible peso.
