Bosnia Herzegovina Coins

The official currency of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the convertible mark, introduced in 1995 following the Dayton Accords. This monetary system replaced several currencies used during the Yugoslav conflict, unifying the country's economy.

Monetary history

Prior to independence, Bosnia and Herzegovina used the Yugoslav dinar. During the war in the 1990s, different currencies were issued in different regions of the country, including the Bosnian dinar and the Republika Srpska dinar. The introduction of the convertible mark in 1995 marked an important milestone in the post-conflict economic stabilization of the country.

Numismatic highlights

Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued several commemorative coins since the introduction of the convertible mark. Among the most notable are coins commemorating the 20th anniversary of peace in 2015 and those celebrating historical figures such as Ivo Andrić, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature. In addition, the country has maintained a fixed parity with the euro since its introduction, which has contributed to the stability of its currency.
