Description and history
1 euro coin of Finland (1999-2006)
The 1 euro coin issued by Finland between 1999 and 2006 features on its obverse side the common design of all European Union coins, with the face value and the map of Europe. The reverse shows the flight of a pair of swans (or geese), this motif was presented in a competition for the design of a coin commemorating the 80th anniversary of Finland's independence and finally it was decided to use this beautiful image of these two birds.
