Current currency in circulation
The Trinidadian dollar was introduced in 1964, replacing the British West Indies dollar. Currently, coins of 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents, as well as 1 dollar, are in circulation. Banknotes in circulation are of 1, 5, 10, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollars. In 2014, the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago issued a new series of banknotes with enhanced security features and designs that reflect the country's culture and biodiversity.

Prior to the introduction of the Trinidadian dollar, Trinidad and Tobago used a variety of currencies, including the Spanish real and the British dollar.
